CAMPERS - What it's all about...

We put the Happy in campers! Each summer, the Abbie Rogers Civitan Camp hosts two weeks
of camping adventures for children and adults with significant disabilities, as well as a long
weekend for more of our adult campers in the fall.

Camp days are packed with exciting activities like boating, swimming, fishing, tubing, arts and
crafts, recreation, and so much more. Of course, there’s always time to relax by the lake at the
Yacht Club or make a quick trip to the spa. Every night is a party whether we’re dancing under
the pavilion, hanging out at the pool, or playing at a carnival.
Because of the special adaptations in place at Civitan Camp, everyone gets to participate in the
fun. Our goal is for all campers to participate, regardless of their abilities, and to have a safe,
fun, and unforgettable camp experience.
Youth Week hosts 85 campers with cognitive disabilities from young children up to age 23.

Adult Camping Vacation includes 100 adults with cognitive disabilities from young adult age to middle age.

Fall Adult Camp hosts 50 adults, often those who did not attend during the summer.

The camp administrative staff accepts camp participants based on the ability of the staff and counselors to meet individual needs given the nature of the camp environment. Those residing in South Mississippi are given priority, and rarely is space available for anyone outside Mississippi.  Children and adults who reside in a family home are given priority, as compared to independent living or group home.
